Framework Calibration
We work with the hiring committee or board to calibrate the AXIS Mscore™ framework against the specific requirements of the role and organisation — defining what 'good' looks like across each dimension.
AXIS Mscore™
A structured leadership evaluation framework for objective hiring and succession decisions within industrial organisations.
AXIS Mscore™ is a structured evaluation framework developed by Axentia Global to support objective leadership assessment in industrial organisations. The framework exists because senior hiring and succession decisions in energy, semiconductor, and industrial businesses are often made with incomplete information — relying on interview impressions, reference checks of varying quality, and the intuition of hiring committees who may not agree on what they are looking for.
The framework integrates four evaluation dimensions: Functional Depth, Leadership Capability, Strategic Alignment, and Motivational Drivers. Each dimension is assessed through structured interview protocols, validated reference conversations, and comparative benchmarking against the specific requirements of the role and organisation. The result is a consistent, documented basis for comparing candidates — whether external hires or internal succession candidates.
AXIS Mscore™ does not replace judgment. It structures it. The framework gives hiring committees and boards a common language for discussing candidates, surfacing disagreements early, and making decisions that can be defended and explained after the fact.
Functional Depth measures the candidate's technical and operational expertise within the specific domain required by the role. For a VP of Manufacturing, this includes process knowledge, quality systems experience, and track record in scaling production. For a Country General Manager of an energy business, it covers commercial acumen, regulatory fluency, and P&L accountability. We calibrate functional depth against the actual requirements of the role, not generic competency frameworks.
Leadership Capability assesses how the candidate leads teams, manages across cultures and geographies, and delivers results through others. In Asian industrial environments, this dimension is particularly important — the ability to lead a multi-site workforce across Thailand, India, and Indonesia requires a different skill set than leading a headquarters function in Singapore. We evaluate demonstrated leadership in comparable contexts.
Strategic Alignment examines whether the candidate's experience and orientation match the organisation's strategic direction. A company in turnaround mode needs a different profile than one scaling rapidly. A firm entering new markets needs leaders who have done it before. We assess how the candidate's trajectory aligns with where the organisation is headed.
Motivational Drivers identify what actually drives the candidate — compensation, scope, autonomy, career progression, geographic preference, or personal circumstances. Understanding motivation is critical to predicting retention and long-term fit. We surface these drivers through structured conversation, not assumption.
Final-stage candidate comparison: When a hiring committee is choosing between two or three strong finalists, AXIS Mscore™ provides a structured basis for comparison that goes beyond interview impressions.
Succession readiness assessment: Boards and CEOs use AXIS Mscore™ to evaluate internal succession candidates against external benchmarks, identifying development gaps and readiness timelines.
Post-M&A leadership evaluation: After an acquisition, AXIS Mscore™ helps acquirers assess the leadership team of the target company against their own standards and identify integration priorities.
Board-level talent review: Boards conducting periodic reviews of leadership bench strength use AXIS Mscore™ to structure their assessment and track development over time.
Our Process
We work with the hiring committee or board to calibrate the AXIS Mscore™ framework against the specific requirements of the role and organisation — defining what 'good' looks like across each dimension.
Each candidate is assessed through structured interviews, validated reference conversations, and comparative benchmarking. The lead principal conducts all assessments personally.
We produce a detailed AXIS Mscore™ report for each candidate, documenting evidence against each dimension and providing a comparative analysis across the candidate pool.
We present findings to the hiring committee, facilitate structured discussion of the trade-offs, and support the final decision and offer process.
